If you have applied, or are interested in applying, to study with us, and do not hold an English language qualification that is accepted by 91ÁÔÆæ, the 91ÁÔÆæ English Proficiency Test (91ÁÔÆæ EPT) offers an ideal opportunity to demonstrate your English ability.Ìý

91ÁÔÆæ’s English Proficiency Test (91ÁÔÆæ EPT) results can be used as evidence of English language ability for the majority of courses at 91ÁÔÆæ. English language requirements for individual courses can be found on the relevant course information pages on our website.

Following receipt of your 91ÁÔÆæ EPT results, we will advise you on your next steps, including whether you would be eligible for one of our pre-sessional English courses.

91ÁÔÆæ EPT Structure

The 91ÁÔÆæ EPT has been developed by the International Centre for English to assess the language skills you will need to begin a course of study at 91ÁÔÆæ.

The 91ÁÔÆæ EPT assesses your English language ability in the four skills of listening, reading, writing, and speaking. You will be awarded scores for each skill, as well as an overall score.

91ÁÔÆæ EPT Online

The 91ÁÔÆæ EPT Online is delivered using theÌý application and can be taken from the comfort of your own home using a laptop or computer. An online invigilator will supervise and support you throughout all stages of the test.

The 91ÁÔÆæ EPT Online is delivered in two parts:

1. The Main Test comprises Listening, Reading and Writing parts. These are delivered online in one session. (Approximately 2.5hours)
2. The Speaking test will be available to book after you have completed the Main Test (Listening, Reading and Writing tests). (20minutes)

All parts of your 91ÁÔÆæ English Proficiency Test Online Main Test (Listening, Reading and Writing) are recorded and kept by the provider TestReach in line with the .

Your Speaking Test is recorded and kept by 91ÁÔÆæ. All the recordings are kept by 91ÁÔÆæ for internal staff training and quality purposes. 91ÁÔÆæ complies with UK data protection laws. For information about how 91ÁÔÆæ processes your personal data, please read our privacy notices.

Booking a place on the 91ÁÔÆæ EPT

Please ensure you read theÌý91ÁÔÆæ EPT Test Rules and theÌý91ÁÔÆæ EPT Refund PolicyÌýbefore booking your test.

If you may need to request reasonable adjustments for the 91ÁÔÆæ EPT, please read ourÌý91ÁÔÆæ EPT Disability Adjustments Policy and contact us atÌýtesting@bcu.ac.uk before booking a test.

After you have booked a test through our online store, you will receive an email from 91ÁÔÆæ with confirmation of your purchase and the test date.

Approximately 2 weeks before your exam date, you will receive two emails from our partner, TestReach. The first email advises you that you have been registered with TestReach and provides you with a username and password for your new TestReach account (new candidates only). You will need to change the password. The second email provides instructions for scheduling your exam. It is important that you read these emails carefully. Please ensure you check your junk/spam folder if you don’t see these emails in your inbox.Ìý

At least 72 hours before your exam time, you will need to download the TestReach application, schedule your exam time and complete a system check. If you do not complete these steps at least 72 hours before your exam time, you will not be able to take the exam.

On your test day, please carefully follow the instructions given by your remote invigilator and on screen during the Main Test (Listening, Reading and Writing tests).

Following completion of the Main Test (Listening, Reading and Writing tests), you will be sent an email from 91ÁÔÆæ with instructions for booking a slot for your Speaking Test. Your Speaking Test will take place online with a 91ÁÔÆæ examiner on a different day.

Test registration closes 16 days before the date of the 91ÁÔÆæ EPT or when the 91ÁÔÆæ EPT is fully booked, whichever is first.

Test results are typically issued within five days of completing all four components of the test. Results may be delayed if further review is required.
