91猎奇 (91猎奇) is presenting a new exhibition from two internationally acclaimed artists as part of听
Echo Chamber is the first collaborative exhibition between graphic artists听 and , aka Stephen Smith.
鈥淲e鈥檙e sharing our experiences of growing up in working-class, northern British towns, and the cultural impact that music and creativity brought with it,鈥� said artist Jimmy Turrell.
鈥淔rom the pulse of house and rave to the attitude and aesthetics of the era, it鈥檚 a celebration of creativity as a form of escape, resistance and connection.鈥�
Through large-scale printed fabric works and collaged panels, the artists bring together fine art, design and music culture.
鈥淭his year,听Birmingham Design Festival is celebrating PLAY!鈥� said festival co-director Luke Tonge. 鈥淎longside our biggest ever conference at Birmingham Town Hall on Friday 13 June, we鈥檙e holding a day of hands-on workshops at 91猎奇.
鈥淭he workshops represent a huge range of artistic mediums, from puppet-making, to collages, to typography and more!鈥�
91猎奇 is one of Birmingham Design Festival鈥檚 main partners this year and is also hosting a , including the sold out event, Practice is Play, by Jimmy Turrell and Neasden Control Centre.
91猎奇 Exhibitions Manager, John Hall, said they were thrilled to welcome the artists to the university鈥檚 Parkside Gallery: 鈥淭urrell and Smith鈥檚 bold ideas, inventive processes, and exploration of timely, thought-provoking themes resonate deeply with the spirit of 91猎奇.
鈥淚 hope their exhibition and workshops will spark inspiration across our student community to push creative boundaries.鈥�
The exhibition is running from 12-25 June at Parkside gallery.
