Callistus’ research addresses contemporary challenges relating to climate change, overheating, housing quality, healthy homes, and building performance. His work explores how homes can be designed and adapted to support occupant health, comfort, and wellbeing in a warming climate.
He welcomes opportunities to contribute evidence-based commentary on topics including overheating, thermal comfort, healthy homes, housing inequalities, climate resilience, low-carbon housing, and building performance evaluation. His research has informed discussions with housing providers, industry professionals, policymakers, and community organisations working to improve housing quality and climate adaptation outcomes.Ìý
Callistus works closely with housing providers, developers, industry practitioners, and community organisations to address challenges relating to overheating, housing quality, healthy homes, and climate resilience. His doctoral research on overheating mitigation and thermal comfort in UK homes involved engagement with industry stakeholders including Midland Heart Housing Association, Taylor Wimpey, and Barratt Redrow, providing insight into the practical challenges and opportunities associated with delivering climate-resilient housing at scale.
Through the Centre for Future Homes, he has contributed to building performance evaluation and Future Homes Standard research, including environmental monitoring, indoor air quality assessment, energy performance analysis, and post-occupancy evaluation of residential developments. He contributed to the Future Homes Standard Case Study: Project 80 – Eco Drive Handsworth, supporting the evaluation of low-carbon housing performance and resident experiences.
His industry engagement includes presenting research findings to housing developers and construction professionals, delivering invited talks to the Future Homes Group of over 100 housing industry professionals, and contributing to theÌýEcrofit Project, a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) initiative focused on retrofit and energy-efficiency solutions for housing.
More recently, he has developed collaborations with organisations such as TPAS (Tenant Participation Advisory Service) and Shade the UK, supporting resident-centred research on healthy homes, overheating, climate adaptation, and housing inequalities. His work aims to bridge the gap between building performance research, industry practice, housing policy, and lived experience to support healthier, more sustainable, and climate-resilient homes.Ìý
